On July 3, the Uttar Pradesh Police registered an FIR against the organizers of the religious congregation. According to the FIR, followers of the godman Narayan Sakar Hari attempted to hide evidence of the stampede by discarding victims’ belongings, including slippers, in nearby fields. The police have booked the event organizer, Devprakash Mathur, under multiple sections, but Narayan Sakar Hari remains at large. The incident took place during a ‘satsang’ (prayer meeting) in Fulrai village, Sikandrarau, Hathras district, attended by over 100,000 people, mostly women.

In response to the tragedy, the district administration has issued helpline numbers 05722227041 and 05722227042 for public assistance. The official X handle of the District Magistrate of Hathras announced these measures to support the affected families and individuals.
