PEEPLCOACH : A NEW INNOVATION IN CAREER COACHING

Every business is driven by a purpose to improve certain conditions which they seek to fulfil. For Peeplcoach that purpose is to help employees develop a successful career of their own choosing. The co-founder of Peeplcoach, Christine Khor says, “We want to help talented individuals build the career they want.”

Understanding the needs and direction of the market and the readiness of the consumers for the service determines the course of a successful company. A veteran in management and the recruitment industry, Khor has a deep knowledge of how the industry is evolving and what employees are really looking for. She says, “With people changing roles more often, the need to help them plan careers has never been greater.” Khor believes that employees, much like Olympians, need coaches to assist them in building the careers they want and deserve and reaching the goals they set themselves.

Though there are increasing numbers of start-ups in the industry, completely technology-based, there are few organisations concerned about the well-being of employees, despite the fact that employee satisfaction plays a key role in the success of a company. Studies have consistently provided concrete evidence that happier employees are more productive in the workplace.  A study by the University of Warwick found that happiness led to a 12% spike in productivity, while unhappy workers proved 10% less productive. The same study found that companies that invested in employee support and satisfaction tend to succeed in generating happier workers. In the case of Google, employees’ satisfaction rose to 37% as a result of initiatives promoting well being. Another consequence of an unhappy workplace is increasing turnover rate, which is currently at its highest in 10 years. These underlying needs call for a service that addresses the well-being, happiness and career development of individuals.

The idea of Peeplcoach was born in late 2017 while Khor was attending an HR Technology conference. She noticed the lack of services that focus on helping employees develop their career pathway.  She recalls the conference, “As I reviewed the latest technologies presented at the conference, there was not a single product or service that serviced the needs of the employees career.” Subsequently, the inception of the company followed, with the vision to improve the overall well-being of employees by the providing an affordable and accessible career coaching service.

Peeplcoach was officially launched in February 2018 as an interactive and self-paced career coaching platform dedicated to helping professionals find satisfaction in their work and boost their health and well being. Through regular one-on-one sessions with an experienced coach, participants get personalised advice on how to grow in their job and make the most of their career. Khor says, “Our career coaches provide on-demand advice for challenging situations when employees need to talk to someone outside of the organisation.”

The course is designed to take individuals through a journey of development. Phase one involves understanding the employee, the role of the work in relation to their personal life, and defining their career goals. The second explores the employee’s skills and experience, and where the employee stands in relation to their dream career. The third phase determines the options, the road maps, and measures to fill the gaps between where they currently are and where they want to be. The final and fourth phase brings together the tools, knowledge, and strategies that are required to achieve these goals. These phases are carried out by the employees with the support of Peeplcoach’s expert coaches.

By combining face to face human interaction with an online learning platform, Peeplcoach allows talented individuals to access coaching services at an affordable price. The learners have access to monthly exercises and learning modules and 24/7 live chat with a master coach. Peeplcoach promotes overall employee well-being by creating a customised, on-demand program for career success.

With an increasingly complex working environment, career coaching services are growing along with awareness of their value. With the rise in demand and market share, the company is optimistic about the future of the business. The U.S. estimated market value for personal coaching was $955 million in 2015 and increased to $1.02 billion in 2016. Market value is estimated to reach $1.34 billion by 2022. By delivering a quality service, Peeplcoach is set to make a positive impact on thousands of employees around the world.

It takes courage, resilience, and strategic implementation of a plan to build a successful business in an aggressively competitive market. By venturing into the coaching industry by ways of unconventional methods, Peeplcoach has refused to accept that we should be ok with an unsatisfied working life filling one-third of our lives. By implementing a strategic and innovative solution, Peeplcoach is delivering on their mission to improve the professional and personal health and well being of talented individuals everywhere.
